"The Farm"

We recently closed on the purchase of our "farm." It is actually an old farm house (that needs some work), several nice outbuildings, and 10 acres. We intend to work on it, while we try to sell the house we live in now. Unless we sell our house right away, it will probably be several months before we actually move to the farm. Needless to say, I am excited, the boys are excited, and I think Sheila is excited. Caitlin just goes with the flow!

The Farm is located about 2.6 miles from my mom and dad's farm, and 1.0 miles from my brother's farm. It is located in my "old stomping grounds," for which I am ready to return to.

Be still, My child, and know that I am God!
Wait thou patiently-I know the path you trod.
So falter not, nor fear, nor think to run and hide,
For I, thy hope and strength, am waiting by thy side. -Hein

When I saw this picture, I couldn't help but think for Gadston Camp. (Just in case Bro. John runs out of room on the ground.) Only if you've been to Gadston Camp can you appreciate the humor here. Gadston Camp is one of our favorite places!

Easter at the Wade's

Where does time go? If you think you are going to keep up with our lives through this blog, I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you.

We just finished the Easter Season, a time of year that I am especially thankful for. Easter celebrates the day Jesus arose from the dead, and it's because of Easter that I live today! I'm thankful that I know Jesus in a very living and personal way.

Prior to Easter Sunday, we had our annual Preacher's Convention. My topic this year was "The Innerman." I'm thankful that the "innerman" can be made anew! Convention was generally good, and I appreciate the Spirit of God I felt in our midst. All that said, convention can also be very wearing on the "outerman."

Sunday afternoon we had some friend over for lunch and had an Easter egg hunt for the children. I filled over 160 of those plastic eggs. After the Easter egg hunt, we had the children count their eggs. I think we were still missing some, but the problem is - we don't know where we hid them! The children seemed to enjoy themselves, and we enjoyed the company of our friends.
I'll try to be a little more faithful in my posts - but remember, I said "try!"

Birthday Feast

Yesterday was my 32nd birthday. My wife fixed a very delicious Sunday afternoon meal. She invited several of my family members and a couple of my friends over. We had a very enjoyable time. When you eat one of my wife's homecooked meals, you'll understand why I'm as big as I am! :) (Although I'm sure McDonald's and Daylight Donuts don't help out there either!) Seriously, she is a great cook! I don't like getting any older, but I dislike the alternative even more!

Today when I got home from work, my middle son, Dalton, asked me to come outside and bring my camera. He said he wanted me to take a picture of him and his puppy that he got for Christmas. He told me, "I think it will make a good picture, Dad." You be the judge! (I should have rotated the picture before I inserted it - Guess I'll learn next time.)

We finally can join the "bloggers."

Away with dial-up, and up with wireless. After constant nagging from my wife, we finally broke down (or should I say it broke us) and had wireless internet installed today. If you can blog using turtle slow dial-up, you have more patience than I do. Since I have DSL at work, getting high speed internet at home wasn't near as high a priority to me, as it was to her! However, since we have it, I might as well use it right? Actually, it was a joint mutual decision. Maybe now we can keep up with everyone, providing I can figure out how to do this! Maybe next time, I'll venture out and try to put up some pictures.
